Blog with a smile

Blog with a smile!
Hey all you loyal bloggers, my name is Wendy Ntobongwana, I am 20 years old and am currently doing my first year in Journalism and media studies at Rhodes University. I am a fun loving, energetic and spontaneous person but most of all I absolutely love laughing, not only that I am a person who is concerned with the happenings of my surroundings and am some-what inquisitive. I am passionate about journalism and intrigued by the styles of news, and that is why our blog is perfect in representing my personality along with the other group members.
JournalismJargen is a blog created by four first year students, Robyn, Wendy, Stella and Zolani. JournaJargen is not like any other ordinary news blog, it takes news to another humorous level. It is hard news with satirical elements. In our blog we post factual news but instead of reading “dull” hard news, the reader gets the opportunity to get entertained with humorous news. What sets us apart from other blogs is that we bring entertainment values to hard news. Apart from just being entertained we understand that most of the readers will be students and that will mean they wont have as much time to read long articles, so we have “did you know” posts on our blog, short articles that are easy to read for those days when you want to know what is going on but don’t have enough time to sit and read.
This blog is aimed at Journalism and media studies students at Rhodes University and the general public, but mostly for journalism students, by journalism students. JournalismJargen is basically aimed at anyone who is interested in the media world and those who wish to stay updated on the happenings of both local and international news. Even though the blog was started because of journalism group assignment from the Rhodes journalism department but nevertheless has the potential to turn out to be a successful “news on the go” method.
Why should I follow JournalismJargen is probably the question on any readers mind? Well the answer is simple. If you are tired of reading the same style of news and also hearing it on TV then this is the blog for you, if you are interested in reading news with surprise and entertainment values, then this is the blog for you, but most of all if you are a person who does not have much time on their hands but as a journalism student needs to stay updated with the news then this is definitely the blog you should follow. It offers so much more than just everyday news but most of all its factual and credible due to the sources. So that is why you should follow our blog!

My name is Stella Madlala, one of the four members of "JournalismJargon". I was born and groomed in KwaZulu Natal - Durban. I love news especially news with an entertainment value because it keeps me informed and amused - I enjoy a good laugh. News with an entertainment value not only informs me but also incorporates things I need to know about life in general.

"JornalismJargon" is a blog designed to inherit in your life style - it is aimed at constituting part of who you are and what is your choice when it comes to news selection and reading. This blog is aimed at keeping you highly informed and out of the room of anxiety, boredom and normalities of news and their repetitive elements. I believe that reading keeps you informed - words are the most powerful invention since creation. Consuming words is getting full of information, keeping your brain powerful. This blog advocates entertainment in the value of news and information. This blog is your road to power and information.

As you know that the world is an exciting and ever changing place which requires one to be informed not only news wise but also with the trends that will assist in making living and life as a whole easy to adapt to and engage in. Thus journalism is the way forward which keeps track and with the times when it comes to the activities and knowledge that the world possesses. Journalism is what makes you stay entertained and informed or maybe bored pending on the way that you consume and use journalism jargon and journalistic work.

As a journalism student I strive in delivering for my society news that is new and of best quality and interest to my society and the world at all times. I am dedicated to providing the highest quality news and related services to my readers. Promoting a reading and well informed nation and maintaining a blog that is informative and user friendly for both readers and staff. My purpose is to encourage others, to love and enjoy blogging, reading and knowing. I strive to live in the world where news is important and journalists are not taken for granted or as individuals who only impinge on celebrity and gossip life style.

I believe that as journalism students news are our best and deepest interest, being open minded and always ready to produce and deliver to the public at any given time should be our main target goal, as we are or should be useful and handy watch dogs for the society and the nation as a whole. Knowledge is power and being well informed is important, because it continually develops the interest of reading and acquiring more information and understanding.

Welcome, welcome one and all!

Welcome, welcome one and all!

By Robyn Selles

Moshi moshi! My name is Robyn and I am a first year journalism student at Rhodes. I am a language fanatic – even though I only speak two fluently, English and Norwegian, I am in the process of learning Japanese! These extra languages will definitely assist in my dream to be a travelling journalist as not everybody enjoys it when one only speaks English (especially in France!).

In following this site, you – YES YOU - will be kept up to date with the latest news, slightly twisted, to suit our style – and as long as you enjoy stories such as “the driving instructor with the DUI”, then this blog is the one for you!

My group and I started this blog not only because we had to, but also to keep journalistic news alive and flowing – as hard news tends to be a bit draining at times. The twisted news found on our blog is going to knock your socks off – as we don’t use the news that most people deem “normal”. I enjoy the random “did you know” facts on this page and will keep them thoroughly updated as I find new ones. I know that almost everyone enjoys reading these type of facts about the world around us, and I recon that this will be the perfect way to draw you all in to our site – it will be like stealing candy from a baby.

I’m a fun loving person and that is why I thought that satirical news would be the best for our site – it just captures everything I believe in. Through our blog, I really hope to make new (cyber) friends and locate people with a similar attitude of the world as I have. So if anybody out there can relate to me, then do the right thing and FOLLOW THIS BLOG!

Before I sign off I thought I would leave my favourite (slightly altered) quote from my main man, Dr Seuss…I would not read it with a fox, I would not read it in a box, I would not like it in a house, I would not read about a mouse… I do not like hard news at all, so this is my latest post on the wall! :)
